Friday Cat Blogging from the Left Paw Society
Sorry to have taken so long to put this picture up. I've been busy torturing this cat for hours trying to get him to confess to eating my cheese. He kept denying it. Luckily, after several hours of dunking him in freezing water, threatening him with dobermans, and other "intensive techniques," he broke. He admitted not only that he ate the cheese, but that he was part of a conspiracy with the other three cats. Thankfully, now, my cheese is safer, and so is the world.

Friday Cat Blogging from the Left Paw Society
Well, it's been a long year. My mother passed away two weeks ago after a long bout with cancer and blogging has been far from my priorities recently with family, work and other bits of life taking precedent over bloggerly matters.
I've been meaning to write about my mother, an amazingly talented person, and one of the purest good souls. I just don't feel like like writing it right now. Anyway, you know: I owe you much, mom, and so do many more whose lives you've touched. I leave it at that until I can find an elegant way to say it.
So, here is a shot of Biscuit looking at the moon.

Friday Cat Blogging from the Left Paw Society
And, yes, with some other critters I've captured on camera this week. Including
the common House Finch. Of course, I didn't think this bird was common at all. In fact, when I saw its colors, I thought maybe I had seen the elusive Red-Ringed California Fly Swatter or something. Alas, it was but the humble House Finch. I wish I could have gotten closer, but
the bird was on the top wire of a telephone post. For me, it was quite a moment. As I approached, steathily moving in the shadows of the alley and snapping pictures as quickly as my nervous, trembling hands would let me, my avian friend turned away, beckoned the sound of a distant call. At that point my subject, obviously keen to respond, took a deep breath, ruffled its feathers, and spoke back. While I am loathe to translate from Common House Finch, I think the bird said "Yes, I do" and took flight. I never saw it again.
Finally, a warbler of some sort, I think. Orthinologists of the world, correct me.

This little--tiny actually--bird has been all over the garden eating aphids off the roses. Nature is reallly quite amazing if you let it be.

Cat Blogging...

Ok. I never cat blog. We have four cats and it would take a full-time business to post the pictures of them doing interesting things. But, it's Friday and I'm just sitting around waiting for another Bush scandal and, well, I feel like cat blogging. So here goes: this is a picture of Mara*** (*** to protect the innocent) taken early one morning. Mara*** spends a lot of time on the roof.
